What does trust mean to you? We ask this question along with others related to building trust in a panel discussion on our latest podcast.

Episode 8

In this episode of the Centric Biz and Tech Talks podcast, John Kackley talks about the importance of building trust in your personal and professional life.

Trust is vital to maintaining stable relationships in our work and personal lives, and consequently, it’s crucial to our words and actions. Trust is also very delicate, being difficult to earn and easy to lose.

In this discussion with Centric colleagues Lisa Cribbs, Roshan Stouwie, Hilary Lee, and Jennifer Hill, we talk about building trust personally and professionally. We start with the core question: what does trust mean to you?

Then we expand to the lifecycle of trust:

  • What builds trust?
  • Why is it important?
  • What are the behaviors that erode trust?

While most conversations, our included, focus on how we establish trust with others, we also take a look from the other direction. What does someone else have to do to earn our trust?

One theme we discuss is the idea of a “bank of goodwill. ” We reflect how, over time, small actions build up a reserve of trust.

Through varied personal and professional experiences, our panel dives into the sensitive topic of trust. They offer perspectives on how to develop, nurture, and heal this fragile asset, which might be the most critical bit of capital we possess.

John Kackley is a senior manager and program manager at Centric Chicago.
